Bringing Financial Literacy to the Classroom

Thanks to mini grant support from United Way of West Florida, Pensapreneur Kids is actively expanding beyond our community marketplaces to bring hands-on business and money management education directly into local classrooms.

Our Entrepreneurship in the Classroom program is currently equipping local students with real-world skills in financial literacy, leadership, and problem-solving—giving them the practical tools they need to earn, save, and give back to their community.

 The Problem We Are Solving

Many young people reach adulthood without a basic understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, or money management. Standard classroom instruction rarely offers kids the opportunity to test real business ideas, make economic choices, or experience entrepreneurship firsthand.

Without early exposure to these concepts, students face real challenges:

Lack of Practical Application: Classroom theories often lack tangible, real-world execution where students can see their decisions lead to measurable outcomes.

Financial Literacy Deficits
Learning how money works at an early age prevents financial missteps later in life.

Unrealized Potential: Youth are full of innovative ideas, but often lack a structured framework to transform those ideas into active enterprises or community projects.

Our Solution: Entrepreneurship in the Classroom

We are actively delivering an interactive, high-impact entrepreneurship program directly to students in local schools and learning groups.

 Active Program Highlights

  • Hands-on Learning: Interactive workshops covering ideation, product creation, budgeting, marketing, and community impact.

  • Flexible Formats: Active delivery through in-person classroom instruction and flexible virtual modules.

  • Real Impact Tracking: Pre- and post-program evaluations actively measuring changes in financial literacy, business understanding, and student confidence.

How Grant Funds Are Being Used

Our grant funding is directly powering the execution and expansion of this program:

  • Curriculum Finalization: Delivering a standardized, high-quality curriculum designed for flexible in-person and virtual classroom delivery.

  • Impact Measurement: Administering short before-and-after surveys to measure direct growth in student knowledge surrounding money management and business concepts.

  • Media & Storytelling: Utilizing professional camera equipment to document classroom learning, capture impact stories, and highlight student accomplishments.

  • Outreach & Communication: Employing marketing software and outreach tools to connect with teachers, families, and community partners across local school districts.

  • Long-Term Sustainability: Working with fiscal sponsor Pensacola Community Action Network (PensacolaCAN) for financial oversight and securing grant-writing support to ensure ongoing program expansion.

 Who It Is For

The Entrepreneurship in the Classroom program serves youth ages 5 to 17 and is actively being taught in:

  • Elementary & Middle Schools: Partnering with local schools (such as Dixon, Jubilee, and Beulah Elementary) to provide turnkey social studies, math, and career-readiness workshops.

  • Educators & Teachers: Supplying teachers with complete instructional support, student activity materials, and pre/post survey tools.

  • Homeschool Co-Ops & Youth Groups: Offering flexible virtual and in-person sessions tailored to homeschool networks and after-school programs.

We are actively serving student cohorts of 40 to 60+ kids per block while scaling up for broader district-wide implementation.
